Known for its vibrant lilac-violet flowers and fruits, Callicarpa dichotoma, or beautyberry, really lives up to its name.  Its showy nature is very attractive to birds and complements displays with Ilex verticillata (winterberry) and Pyracantha (orange berries).  The genus name itself translates from Greek as “beautiful fruit,” while the species translates to “forked in pairs.”
