Join us for a day of fun for families and four-legged friends featuring “dog” related activities. Enjoy a yummy “dog” at our Hot Dog stand before entering your pooch in our light-hearted dog show at 1:00 for kids and adults where every dog gets a ribbon. The whole family can enjoy a stroll in the garden and grounds, check out the pond and stream, or a “roll” in the grass at the Rolling Lawn. All dogs must be kept on leash and be under their owner's control.

Admission: $5 suggested donation. During your visit, make sure to check out our plant sale. Take home one of the Wakefield Estate’s special plants to start your own collection. For more information, call 617-333-0924.

Read more...This Sunday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., enjoy Garden Conservancy Greater Boston Open Day.

Start your day with a stroll through hundreds of kousa dogwoods here at the Wakefield Estate, host garden for this year’s Open Days Program. Then grab your map and head out to explore some of the area’s best gardens, all less than 10 miles from the estate.

Visit ten private gardens in Hyde Park, Milton, and West Roxbury, MA. The garden of Judy Bucklen in West Roxbury has been added to this Open Day after the publication of the Open Days Directory.

Admission is $5 per garden. Day passes ($30 for all ten gardens) will be available at each private garden.

In addition, three public gardens in Rosindale and West Roxbury will also be open on this date.

The Mary M. B. Wakefield Charitable Trust is proud to partner with the Garden Conservancy to bring you this special Open Day, featuring a group of private and public gardens clustered in Milton, Hyde Park, West Roxbury, and Roslindale. Some offer awe-inspiring beauty or captivating whimsy, while others offer insightful approaches to typical gardening challenges.

Dogwood Days 2014!
June 8 – 14;10:00 am - 4:00 pm DAILY

Each June, the Wakefield Estate welcomes visitors to celebrate the annual blooming of hundreds of Polly Wakefield's kousa dogwood trees. This year's Dogwood Days celebrates our organization's 10th anniversary and will include a week full of special events, including open hours, guided tours, our tree and plant sale and more. The grounds will be open daily for self-guided walks around the formal gardens where hundreds of kousa dogwoods will be at their peak bloom. Admission to all events is a $5 suggested donation.

Garden Conservancy Greater Boston Open Day
Each year hundreds of exceptional gardens nationwide are selected to participate in The Garden Conservancy's Open Days program. This year, the Mary M. B. Wakefield Charitable Trust partnered with The Garden Conservancy to organize "Greater Boston Area Open Days," featuring the Wakefield Estate, and other outstanding gardens nearby in Milton, West Roxbury, and Roslindale. Begin your day at the estate, pick up a map and head out to see some great and inspiring gardens, some designed by noted landscape designers Christie Dustman and Sally Muspratt. For more information about Greater Boston Open Day, visit the Garden Conservancy's Open Days Program website . A guided tour of the Wakefield Estate will be offered at 1:00 pm, rain or shine.
Monday, June 9 - Friday, June 13; 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Open Garden
During Dogwood Days week-long celebration, the estate will be open to the public daily from 10am-4pm for self-guided garden tours and plant sale. Stroll about the estate grounds and formal gardens to view hundreds of breathtaking kousa dogwoods at their peak bloom. Plein air artists are invited to capture the blooming dogwoods on canvas. If your garden club or organization would like a private guided tour, please call us at (617) 333-0924.
