Flowers, Fur, and Fun: Dogwood Days a Resounding Success!
Thank you to all who came out for our week-long Dogwood Days celebration, June 8-14! Over the course of the week, over 450 people visited the estate – most for the first time – to enjoy the beautiful sight of Polly Wakefield’s 300+ blooming dogwood trees! Even the wettest June on record couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of so many who wished to experience walking among the dogwoods at their peak bloom. We want to send a special thank you to all our volunteers and community partners who helped make this year’s Dogwood Days possible. This year’s week-long celebration of the estate’s kousa dogwood trees featured open gardens, plein air painting, our first-ever plant sale and new partnership with The Garden’s Conservancy’s “Open Days” program. Another first, “Dogs and Dogwood Day,” drew dozens of families and their four-legged friends on the prettiest day of the week. Due to its success, it is sure to be back next year.
We hope you enjoy these images from the celebration, and share your own with us by email. Thanks also to the Patriot Ledger, Milton Times and Milton Patch for their coverage of the events. We look forward to seeing you at next year’s celebration.
