Wood Aster

One of the most easily-recognized fall perennials is the Eurybia divaricata, otherwise known as the white wood aster.  It has a very distinctive leaf: heart-shaped with jagged edges.  The flowers are small yet profuse, with white rays and yellow/red alternating centers.  Very much like its cousin the New England aster, it’s known to attract butterflies.
