2021 Winter Stone Soup Speakers Series: Meet the "Mary May Binney Wakefield Arboretum"

Monday, 04 January 2021 12:11

For this winter's Stone Soup speakers series, we will focus inward and reacquaint our followers with the history, landscape, and program vision that led to our renaming this year as the Mary May Binney Wakefield Arboretum. Through story-telling and photos, we hope to engage participants in a conversation that increases people's understanding and attachment to this beautiful and unique cultural landscape nestled in the Blue Hills. The Stone Soup speakers series is normally a convivial gathering around homemade soup, but this year will be conducted virtually via Zoom on the last Wednesdays of the month, January - March, at 6:30 p.m. We will miss the actual sharing of soup and breaking of bread due to the pandemic, but we hope to share a recipe or two of our favorite winter soups.

The January Stone Soup session will give an overview of the ten consecutive generations of occupants who called this place home, with some intriguing details and mysteries unearthed in the early days of our work as we researched the families and documented their collections. To receive the zoom link for the Jan. 27th session, please register here or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
