Merry Historic Milton: Progressive Tasting Trolley Tour Dec. 15th

Join an exclusive progressive tasting event through three historic mansions in Milton: Forbes House Museum, the Wakefield Estate, and the Eustis Estate. Each house will be decorated for the holidays and feature one course and one beverage, drawing inspiration from the Christmas traditions of New England. 

Begins at Forbes House with appetizers and a discussion of the history of Christmas in America. Continue with a cozy stop by the fireside at the Wakefield Estate for a savory dish, then on to the Eustis Estate for a nightcap and dessert. 

Meet at the Forbes House Museum, 215 Adams Street, Milton, Mass. A trolley will take you between each site and return you to Forbes House at the end of the tour. 

$90 for members of Historic New England, Forbes House, or Wakefield Estate
$100 nonmembers 

Choose between two start times (tour lasts three hours):

6:00 p.m. (Doors open at 5:30 p.m.)
7:30 p.m. (Doors open at 7:00 p.m.)

Wreath Making Workshop Nov. 30th

The Wakefield Estate will hold its popular wreath-making workshop Thursday, November 30th from 6:30-8:00 pm. Participants will create a fabulous holiday wreath for their door with locally-sourced fancy evergreens. This workshop will begin at 6:30 pm with a short demonstration by Landscape Director Deb Merriam on how to make a wreath base from locally sourced greens. After that, Lisa Ahern from Cedar Grove Gardens, will show how to embellish that plain base and turn it into a custom-made show stopper! All materials provided but feel free to bring your own decorations. If extra wreaths are produced, they will be sold as part of our Holiday Wreath Sale. Holiday Inspiration with Lisa Ahern Wed. Nov. 8th

With the holidays sneaking up, it's time for "Holiday Inspiration with Lisa," our annual holiday decoration demonstration by Lisa Ahern, floral designer for Cedar Grove Gardens. Lisa will share her tips on how to create beautiful and easy floral accents for the holiday home, emphasizing creative and fun ways to make your home and table "shine" during the holidays. Enjoy some light refreshments, mulled cider or a glass of wine while watching Lisa work her magic! Most of the arrangements created during the workshop are raffled among those present at the end of the evening. Price for the workshop is $25 per person, $15 for members. Blue Hills Great Estates Fall Foliage Tour Nov. 4-5

Experience three iconic garden estates in the Blue Hills awash in fall colors! On November 4th and 5th from 10 am until 3 pm, The Trustees’ Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate, the Mary Wakefield Estate and Historic New England’s Eustis Estate will be celebrating the fall season with unique crafts, seasonal beverages and treats, and activities for the whole family. At the Bradley Estate, come “make and take” beautiful centerpieces and fall decorations using the fruits of our harvest from the kitchen, woodland gardens and trails. From dried flowers, to gourds and pine cones we will have plenty of material to choose from. The Wakefield Estate will feature guided walks through its unique arboretum and grounds, nature-based crafts, autumn seed collecting and fun activities for the whole family. Landscape tours will be highlighted at the Eustis Estate, built in 1878 and designed by renowned architect, William Ralph Emerson. At each Estate, member tickets are $5; and nonmembers: $10. Children under 12: free. See all three and obtain a free program voucher to redeem at one of the estates through December 2017.
