Description

This year's Stone Soup and Speakers Series, A Deeper Look, will focus on a deeper exploration into the different aspects and angles of our work here at the Wakefield Estate: outdoor and experiential education, tree and plant research, and local history. The topics relate to the central subjects of our newly launched quarterly journal, Dogwood Lane. The January-April series will take place the last Wednesday of the month, beginning January 30th. We are very excited that our first talk will feature one of our key educational partners, Holly Rosa, Assistant Director of K-12 Science & Technology/ Engineering at Boston Public Schools and Erica Max, the estate's Program Director, on the use of the Wakefield landscape as an outdoor classroom. Max will provide a brief overview followed by Rosa explaining how this model fits within the current goals of BPS Science and essential science practices. She will also briefly discuss how BPS Science is addressing students awareness of climate change and other environmental issues.
Donations welcome; please rsvp as space is limited. The program starts at 6:00 pm when guests can enjoy a bowl of homemade soup before settling in to enjoy the speaker's remarks. For more information, or to rsvp, call 617-333-0924.
