Central New England Woodturners Show & Demo June 10-11

Friday, 02 June 2017 06:18

We are excited that members of the Central New England Woodturners Club will join us during Dogwood Days on June 10th and 11th from 10 am-4 pm to display and sell their amazing work, and members will demonstrate their skill working the lathe. Woodturning is the process of fashioning wood into various forms using a lathe. With the lathe, woodturners turn out practical, functional pieces or "turn" raw wood into art.
Admission for Dogwood Days is $5 on Saturday and $7 for Garden Conservancy Open Day for adults and includes the opportunity to tour the estate and enjoy the woodturning demonstration and display, along with the other activities. Visitors just interested in the woodturning display and sale are welcome to visit for free. A donation is appreciated.

Bring the family on Dogs and Dogwoods Day June 10

Friday, 02 June 2017 06:03

Join us for a day of fun for families and four-legged friends featuring "dog" related activities. Come out with the whole family, and if that doesn't include a pooch, enjoy the dogs out with their own families. Lunch on a yummy "dog" at our Hot Dog stand before entering your pooch in our light-hearted dog show at 1:00 for kids and adults where every dog gets a ribbon. The whole family can enjoy a stroll in the garden and grounds, check out the pond and stream, or a "roll" in the grass at the Rolling Lawn. All dogs must be kept on leash and be under their owner's control. Hours 10 am - 4 pm daily throughout Dogwood Days. Admission: $5 suggested donation.
During your visit, make sure to check out our plant sale. Take home one of the Wakefield Estate's special plants to start your own collection. For more information, call 617-333-0924.
